About us
Joan of Starch was formed in early 2020 by Rebecca Corrinne Trainor. In the initial months of forming Joan of Starch, raising money for charity organizations that were close to Rebecca’s heart were the sole reason for all that she baked. These charities included BIPOC focused grass-root programs, and more recently, she partnered with Feed the Frontlines to raise money to feed individuals and families facing increased food insecurity due to the impact of the pandemic.
Her passion for baking and helping those in need developed into a full-time business, Joan of Starch. She offers such a range of delicious seasonal savoury and sweet goodies that will make your taste buds jump for joy. From smoked cheddar sourdough, and Taiwanese scallion buns, to Japanese cheesecake and hot chocolate bombs, she has everything you want.
In the summer months, you could find Rebecca dressed in polka dot dresses and a smile, selling freshly baked goods at local markets all across the city. Some customers were lucky to arrive early enough to try her now-famous (and almost always sold-out) everything bagel donuts. News of these tasty goods spread far out of the city with some of her starch loving customers travelling hours to get their hands on her double peanut butter cookies.
